Jalori pass - Best time to go

Like for the Tirthan valley or for the Great Himalayan National Park, the best time to visit the Jalori pass is summer season (from April to June) and autumn season (October and November).
The monsoon is not really recommended because the road to the pass may become dangerous due to heavy rains, and the pass could be blocked because of landslides. Moreover you won't be able to enjoy the incredible views of the Himalayas because of the cloudy weather.

Jalori pass connects the Tirthan valley and the Satluj valley with a road. Or you could say that it is a shortcut way between Kullu and Shimla. For this reason the pass has some strategic importance and hence it is kept open whenever possible.
Nevertheless, the pass being above 3000 m height, the snow blocks it every winter.
If you like going for a day hike on snow, winter could be a great time to go. A vehicle can take you up to the pass or up to where the road is blocked depending on the snow conditions. Then you continue on foot. Have a good pair of boots and some extra layers ! Don't do that on your own, we will ask one of our guide to go with you. Read here about our easy hikes around Jalori.

Jalori pass - Hotels

There is no accommodation facilities at the Jalori pass.
Some people have started offering camping facilities near the pass, but their location is not really good.

So, either you would like to experience camping in the wilderness. In that case we recommend you that we organize the camp with our equipment and our staff, as if you were going for a real trek ! You can read about our services in this regards here.
Or you want to sleep in a real bed ! And so you need to leave the pass area and go a close village with stay facilities : Sojha, Ghiyagi or Jibhi.

Jibhi to Jalori pass

Staying in or near Jibhi is a good option if you wish to visit Jalori pass on the next day, especially if you want to go for a trek or a day hike from the pass.
The distance between Jibhi and Jalori pass is 12 km and it will take you around 40 minutes to reach.

Be aware that Jalori pass being 1100 m higher than Jibhi the drop of temperature will be very much noticeable : around 10 degrees !
